Giving Back

Hey guys! Today, I want to talk about giving back to the community. Recently, I went to an informative meeting that a local food bank, The Second Harvest Food Bank was holding and found out about all the ways that I can help!donatehome2012_01 At the meeting,  I learned the impact that doing minimal things can have! First off, I learned that in my central community almost one fourth of the population does not have a guaranteed meal! This was tremendous news so I decided to take charge and make a change! At the meeting, I learned that stores like Target, WalMart, and other markets that get broken products or products who’s packaging is broken gets donated to the food bank. The food is perfectly safe but us middle class folks like things to look nice while others just want food and don’t care what the packaging looks like. I was really glad that the package that we’ve all put down because it has a rip or isn’t as nice looking as the other packages get donated to a good cause. So all of this food gets donated and the Second Harvest Food Bank basically gets put in a warehouse that is huuuuuge! 420110909150435001_t607 Volunteering there is quite easy. All you have to do is put your email, pick a date, and show up! Click here to volunteer. The first time I volunteered, all I had to do was sort out food. This is extremely easy and is the most crucial part of the process. This experience was extremely heart warming and rewarding. From this, I began to do more. When I was little and I used to live in Romania, my grandmother always cooked extra meals and put them in tupperware and gave them out to people on the streets who couldn’t afford food. I decided to try to do the same. I got a couple of friends from school and decided to start a club. We named the club Food For Thought. We staved to raise money and donate all of the money to No Kid Hungry. Unknown   This organization, as many of us have seen on Food Network, combats childhood hunger in America. According to a recently done poll, 20% of kids in America don’t have secured meals every day. Although world hunger is a huge issue, many times, hunger within our own nation is not emphasized. I thought it was extremely important to help our own nation and friends that we might not even know have problems before we start saving the rest of the world.  Thus, we started fundraising and raising money to donate to the organization. At the end of the year, we got to raise over $300. Although I started doing this with my friends, my family and I give back another way. We buy sandwiches and easy to eat foods and put them in ziplock bags and give them out to the homeless people that we see downtown. This is similar to what many churches do when they host meals for the homeless. feeding-300x224   All of these volunteering opportunities that I have grasped and performed have truly made me feel like I am making a difference. If I can take $30 out of my paycheck and donate food or clothes that I don’t ware to help a helpless child or a homeless adult, I will do it in a flash. Some people have more and some have less but we should never take what we have for granted. Thus, I leave you all with a quote “We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.” – Winston Churchill

Yours truly,

Ari 🙂

Ipsy January Bag Review!

Hey guys! 🙂 This is the review for the January Ipsy bag. 🙂 This is my second month doing it and I love it! If i were you guys, i would get an account! Basically, what you do is pay 10 dollars and every month, you get 4 to 5 sample products but a lot of the times they are big samples or just regular products. It’s a great way to try new things and you don’t have to get one each month!

So let’s get started!

Image

This is what this month’s bag looked like! It was super adorable!

ImageThese are the products that came with it!

Image

This would get a 10 out of 10. I absolutely love it. Not only does it smell heavenly, but it also moisturizes pretty well 🙂

Image

This hairspray is my favorite. It feels a little stiff in your hair but it does the job of keeping your hair in place through humidity and everything!

Image

This is the argon oil and it works pretty well. It is not breaking out my face and it is moisturizing my face and my eyelashes. My hair is too short to apply it to.

Image

This is the nail polish that came with it and applying a coat to it looks very nice, below i will post a picture of what it looks like on my nail. However, I didn’t let it dry before i applied a second coat so it’s all over my nails.Image

This is the last item and it is a small shader brush. I was so excited for this but it ended up being a little bit of a disappointment. The brush is cool. It has indents in it to place your fingers in and that is what one stroke looks like. I was super excited but once i used it, it didn’t look that great. I was a little disappointed.

Overall, this was a great Ipsy Bag!

Getting Organized- Self-Improvement

A couple weeks ago, i was randomly searching on ebay when i found this lovely box (which can be found in multiple colors) and decided that it was so cheap, that i would buy it. Side note-most of the time, i am pretty messy but sometimes i get in a mood where i have to get organized and clean or else i can’t be productive, and those are the times i over organize. So, i bought 4 of these cute boxes for myself and 2 for my mom and we both love them!

These are so cheap, cute, and convenient!

Image

This is in my bathroom where i used them to put my make-up. I wish i would have shown you the before picture because it is egregious. Seriously. I had make-up all over the place and couldn’t find anything in the limited time i have to get ready in the morning ( since i like to sleep in late) and NOW it’s super organized! I looove it 🙂

Image

You see how cute that is! The little cupcakes and all! It’s so classy and adorable!

Are you wondering where the 4th box is? 🙂 ( since there are only 3 in the picture)

WELL!!! I used it on my desk. It has my pencils and pens, markers, index cards, etc! I JUST LOVE it! ( i didn’t get to take a picture of it yet, sorry)

Yours truly.

I forgot to mention that i am not advertising this or getting paid. I’m just doing it for fun! I want to share with you all on how you could improve your organizational skills with just 2.50$ 🙂

I Promise…

I promise that from now on, i will try to blog at least twice a week! It could be my new resolution 🙂

I plan on doing a collab. once a week with the fabulous Allie aka AllietheUnicorn. I also plan on doing How to’s, reviews, and begin showing my art and how i got to the finished product!

SO stay tuned for some amazing stuff!

Yours truly.

Swaaaaag

Hey guys!!

http://www.swaggable.com

This is a website where you sign up to get free items. All you do is sign up and then click on what you want. Then, -this is the best part- companies pick who they want to try the items for FREE! And all you have to do is go back on the page and write a short review! How awesome is that!

What’s the catch?

NOTHING! The companies want you to try it and hope to get in return, more advertisement and good reviews! However, you should always be honest!

Yours always.

           Ari 🙂

Sigh…

I want to do so many things with my blog. I want to DIY and do reviews and post pictures and all that jazz but i don’t have a camera!!! My camera broke and i feel like i fail at blogging. 😦

I need to save money to buy one but i already use the money i work to get for school, bills, and i’m trying to save for a car. Money just keeps on slipping away. Maybe i’ll get a car in 5 years at this rate and a camera in 7 😛

Yours only.

Homecoming Week

Heeeey yall! So i am very sad that i won’t be going to homecoming because it’s at House of Blues, the place i hold dear to my heart! Plus, i’m missing out on all the dancing, but i decided against it this year.

Now back to the topic, for the homecoming week, we have days where the whole school, or shall i say only the brave and awesome people, dress up for different days. Monday was class color day, Tuesday was Tacky tourist day, Wednesday was fairytale day and thursday is going to be school spirit day! I will post an OOTD tomorrow so i decided to post the tuesday and wednesday outfit right over here!

Let’s begin: Because Allie (aka http://allietheunicorn.wordpress.com ) and i were inspired to go to Goodwill together since we both love it and found some awesome clothes! We decided to get t-shirts from goodwill! Image

Allies Outfit includes: a shirt from Goodwill, my pants from a thrift store close to where i live, some long socks and some shoes! (i’m so generic because i don’t know where her shoes and socks were from)

Ari (ME): a shirt from goodwill, pants from a thrift store near my city, a hat from Clair’s (on sale for 5 $), white sandals from forever 21 ( like $12 ) and some hole-y socks that i got in Europe!

FAIIIIRY TALE DAY!!!!! So, for this, Allie http://allietheunicorn.wordpress.com and decided to be matching fairies from Tinkerbell and Friends! I was Rosetta, the garden fairy, and Allie was Tinkerbell! To create our dresses, we bought XL tshirts from the mens section and cut out the shape of our dresses. Allie sowed hers by hand and i sowed mine in the sowing machine!

ImageTaken into account that this was at school, we had to be in “dress code” so we wore shirts underneath and i wore tights because mine ended being a little too short! ImageAllies outfit: Her dress is homemade with a shirt from goodwill, her skin-color pantyhose are from target, her wings are from the dollar store, and her gold shoes are from Kohls ( i believe)

My outfit: My dress is homemade with a shirt from goodwill, my pantyhose are from target (exhilaration), my wings are from the dollar store, my headband is from walgreens, and my shoes are from payless!

Your One and Only.

Ari. 🙂

i am sorry

For the past month, i have attempted to post but it won’t let me! Invalid request keeps on popping up, so i am going to try one last time! These are nails that took me about 10 minutes to do!

1. You paint your nails a solid color of your choice

2. You take black and something that you can make dots with ( pen, bobby pin, toothpick ) You then start of with a solid line and then start to make dots and have them fade as they go down!

And you end up with : TADA!!!!

Professional contraction/remodeling person

Hey Guys,

If you or your parents have been talking about needing a man to come redo your kitchen, tear down a wall, do your deck, paint (interior or exterior), redo your bathroom, change the layout of your house, etc. My dad can do it all! He has been in the business for over 40 years and is VERY good at it. Every house he has worked at, he works efficiently and fast, and gets only good reviews. He is professional and he was certified by BBB.

If you are interested in doing anything to your house and live in or near Orlando, FL, he can help you! If you are interested in doing any remodeling for your house, you can contact him at cristian_mercouffer@yahoo.com or you can comment here.

If you would like to call him, you can get all his contact information here: BBB . His company is made of only himself and as you all know, the construction business is suffering at the moment so please give him a chance, he knows what he is doing!

Yours truly.
